We are a small, friendly club, situated between the church and the village hall in the picturesque village of Yattendon.
We draw members largely from Yattendon and Frilsham but also from a wide area surrounding the villages.
Following a period of active fund-raising we now have two newly resurfaced hard courts.
We enter teams – men’s, ladies’ and mixed - in the Berkshire and Newbury & District Leagues, providing matches for players of a wide range of ability all through the year (see the calendar for details of current matches).
In the winter we also take part in a floodlit league at Cholsey Tennis Club and an indoor Fun League at Caversham.
We hold a knock-out tournament over the summer with a Finals Day and barbecue in September.
We also hold social American tournaments and have a “turn up and play” club session on Wednesday evenings in summer.
The club is a corporate member of the Yattendon and Frilsham Social Club, which is situated right by the courts.
Tennis club members can use the facilities after matches and buy drinks at knock-down prices.
The tennis club also organises its own social events including an annual summer barbecue.
Along with Basildon Tennis Club, Yattendon is affiliated with Bradfield Tennis Centre, with the object of extending possibilities for members for playing at their level.
This gives members a discount on coaching and drills sessions at Bradfield.
A Bradfield coach coaches children at Yattendon on Friday evenings in summer, and the club is planning to hold tennis camps in the summer holidays jointly with Basildon.
